5 Day domestic expedition into Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado

You cannot go wrong: Glacier Travel, Pulling Sleds, Expedition Camps, An Alpine Summit Climb, Ice Climbing, Snow Caves, Ice Axe, Self-Arrest, Avalanche and Basic Expedition skills, knowledge and experience for many more alpine expeditions, foreign and domestic.

The best way to learn is by doing. Therefore, here at cMs, if you are interested in expeditions, you will learn by going on expeditions. This Ptarmigan Ridge Expedition on the spectacular North Ridge of 12,324' Flattop Mountain is an ideal way to begin. Each day will be a climbing expedition and superb training for future expeditions, we cannot recommend the Ptarmigan Ridge Expedition enough.

ITINERARY: Day 1, Ice climbing instruction. Day 2, pack and climb to tree line (11,000'), and dig a snow cave. Day 3, training day for ice axe, crampons, self-arrest, avalanche and alpine climbing expedition techniques. Day 4, summit climb on Ptarmigan Ridge. Day 5, descend and celebrate.

COST: In the tradition of one of the "Great Spirits" Enos_Mills - founder of Rocky Mountatin National Park; we are moving toward offering this course Free as a contribution to society from the Sangre de Cristo Mountaineering School as resources allow. The course is not available at this time.
